I'm getting a better deal on domains, and I'm considering going with a new and easier domain name as well while I'm at it. Problem is, both e-o, eo and obscura (both .com and .net) are taken. Anybody got any suggestions? e-obscura?

Finally, my wishes granted. "e-obscura" is good indeed, but if what you said to me is true and shorter names require to pay more, then I recomend "enc-obscura". Just avoid the "yclopedia", because it's difficult to type.

Per Arne's encyclopedia of all things weird and obscure.
Dot com.
Perhaps Obscura first, and then.. something?

Yeah, I was considering that, but I can't come up with anything

Yeah, I'll probably go for e-obscura.com or maybe .net. It's easier to write, and probably easier to remember considering the pattern it follows (x-entertainment, i-mockery... sites within the same genre and stuff).

Well maybe you should lose the Encyclopedia completely, but I like the name. It has a great feel, like just one big book, or maybe library of occult stuff.
Like a television series, or a comic about a Hellboy like group, who operate from the EO.
E-Obscura sounds too much like Electronic Obscura, wich would be it's BATMAN BEYOND like little brother.
But what's wrong with just Encyclopedia-Obscura, anyway?

It's cumbersome, is all.

Well anybody who can't spell it will never appreciate the site to it's maximum cerebral content anyway.

Yeah, I think I prefer the full on encyclopedia-obscura.com -- it never struck me as cumbersome (although since I've been there plenty of times before I never have to type the full URL anymore) and none of the others mentioned thus far fit quite as well as the name of the site itself. And you already own it! So no hassle there. I could see if you wanted to change the name of the site, but as long as you're going to continue to call it Encyclopedia Obscura, I'd say stick with the original.

Yeah, I might do that and maybe get one of those free .tk domains to refer people to the real domain (like obscura.tk). It's also a bitch voiding all the links out there. I'll see what I'll do.
Oh, I just realized Mess and myself were talking about two different things. I'm not thinking about changing the name of the site, just the adress. Kinda like putting your last name on the doorbell instead of writing the whole thing.

No, no, no. The .tk domains are nice for your wallet, but lately they've started putting up ad pages before you can proceed to the site (probably because so many people have good popup blockers now). Better idea: register a new domain name, if you're still game.
