I'm talking about those films that some guys decide to produce, after a long and hard night out in the city drinking cheap beer and doing line after line of coke. Those crocks of shit where they tame animals who are placed on stage, then are given electrical shocks and cruel teasing, being forced to move. Do the animals get a wage? Yes, they probably have the pleasure of serving the exectuives's hunger as bacon. That's exactly what I wish they did with the pig from Babe.
Who can withstand that? What fun is watching a dirty, ugly pig who screws other people's lifes by setting their animals free and bothering around? I can't believe it got a sequel. I'm sure people only went to see the movie because it featured a pig. Something new at the moment. But it became a cliché and I'd rather slam my balls with the oven door than hearing the telly guy anouncing a new movie which main character is a monkey, dog or flea infested creature named "Buddy" (the likes of which I have heard at least once per animal). Their plot is always a candy-coated story where the main animal has a close, sentimental contact with a human. I hate that. Love stories which lack all of everything.
Bottom line: animal movies are unoriginal, boring, weak, and with poor casting. Anyone with me?

Honestly, I don't think I ever saw a really good movie based on the antics of an animal.
What really burns me, though, is how those producer tend to milk the cow dry (no pun intended). One movie is enough but five with the same exploited animal is criminal.

Sorry, but no. The Adventures of Milo and Otis is like the best movie ever.

I swore I'd never see another animal movie after the Disney one with the damn huskey in the dog race, so I'm not really sure what animal movies are like today. Much hasn't changed, huh?

Well, I usually don't look for em in general, but there must have been some Animal oriented movies that were worth the effort, or at least worth copying it 300 times.
Also, they're children's movies, so if the Kids like it, it's good enough right?

Hum... Mess raises an interesting point. Should we be content that they are entertaining to children or should we strive to have better entertainment for said kids?

Actually I was talking about the filmed ones, the ones with flesh and bone animals and persons. It's OK with Disney movies because the creatures are drawn, computer-made animation is a world of fantasy very delimited, where everything is possible. On the other hand, how real animals behave before the camera is ridiculous.
This kind of movies is already exhausted anyway. It doesn't harm the kids, true, but it shows a lack of cretivity from the prodcers out there. This topic being the axis of cartoons and films worked before, but I think we should move on.
And the name "Buddy" on the animals pisses me off quite a lot.
Prof. Hazard, what's that thing "The adventures of Milo and Otis"? Does it feature the dog Milo from the Mask?

Who ever mentioned animation?
And sure, it shows a lack of creativity, but so does every Romantic Comedy. Or teen comedy. Or Horror Movie.
Just concentrate on the movies you wanna see and be glad you don't have to watch all the other movies.

Gremlins? ? I can see both sides here. For the most part, they're travesties, but perhaps only because of the weak dialogue and shoddy plot, not neccessarily the animal who, to most intents and purposes, is the best actor there. Cats and Dogs wasn't as bad as I had come to understand. And let's not forget "Suzanne" I can't think of many animal centric films, though.

Prof. Hazard, what's that thing "The adventures of Milo and Otis"? Does it feature the dog Milo from the Mask? It is a movie made by the Japanese in which a pug dog named Otis and an orange cat named Milo get lost one day while playing near the river at their farm. The whole thing is narrated by the late Dudley Moore and it's one of my favorite movies of all times. I recommend it to anyone who says there are no good animal movies.

Hey...I've seen that one--and hey, it appears as if it goes under other titles in different countries (don't quite understand that at all.) But yes, compared to Airbud, Homeward Bound, Cats and Dogs, and most other "lame plot-ish" movies that feature animals, this one is a hit! And I mean a SMASHEROO! Here's the link... www.us.imdb.com/title/tt0097050/

While part of me despises all of these animal antic movies, another part is pleased with them. Quite please. For example, I know of a film called "Funky Monkey" which features a high-tech secret agent chimp. But then again, I do seem to have a high tolerance for crap cinema.
Also, the pig from Babe... he (or at least his owners) were paid a shitload of money for both of the films, and to my knowledge, he spent the rest of his life as some sort of pet. You don't kill the golden goose.
