I sort of like As I Lay Dying, but I'm totally on the other bands.

As I lay dying? Everytime I die? Can't say I feel all exited about listening to music coming from groups with those kinds of names.

I'm not saying it's necessarily bad. I'm just saying that I don't much care for music about (potentially self-inflicted) death or depressions or whatnot. I might still be wrong, but heavy metal musicians (at least) tend to choose names that reflects the music style.
I sometimes like my heavy metal angry and growling, but never dark and weeping.

Well, I consider myself to be somewhat obsessed with music, as I spend every day searching out new and innovative bands to listen to. I find it enthralling to discover new bands and music, thus expanding my musical knowledge and diversity. I love all styles of music in some way or another, although I'm not too fond of country (with the exception of some alternative country) or rap (which in most cases, seems to exhibit minimal musical ability or skill). So, I actually don't judge music by the name of the group or their lyrical style, but instead, the art that is put into it.

Know any good melodic metal groups/artists in the vein of Kamelot/Conception, Symphony X, Ayreon or Nightwish?
